We`ve been getting a lot of questions about the rollout of dSocial. Below are answers to some of the most common questions.
What is dSocial?
dSocial is a new social network built for conservatives, libertarians and freedom lovers everywhere. dSocial isn`t limited to these groups, everyone and anyone is free to use dSocial.
What makes dSocial unique?
dSocial uses technologies like blockchain and distributed hash tables to ensure that dSocial can never be taken offline or controlled by a central authority. The use of these technologies means that dSocial is decentralized across numerous computers that maintain the dSocial the network, similar to popular blockchains like Bitcoin and Ethereum. The use of these technologies also means that dSocial is distributed across a virtually unlimited number of computers and mobile devices, similar to popular file sharing networks like BitTorrent. By combining the power of blockchain and distributed hash tables, dSocial can stay online while remaining impervious to hackers and free from censorship.
How does dSocial work?
When using dSocial, the vast majority of users won`t even know they`re using a powerful social network built on technologies like blockchain and distributed hash tables. Up to this point, most internet users have not been able to take advantage of the benefits of decentralized social networks, mainly because they are too complicated and difficult to use. dSocial has been designed for internet users who want the benefits of a decentralized social network without the complexities typical of decentralized applications. dSocial has been designed for everyone, from novices to advanced users.
How is dSocial different from other social networks?
dSocial has been designed to look and feel like other social networks. If you know how to use Facebook, Twitter or Parler, you`ll find it easy to use dSocial. What separates dSocial however, is what happens behind the scenes. When using social networks like Facebook, Twitter and Parler, you`re sending and receiving data to and from these companies` servers. The problem with this type of configuration, as we`ve seen with Facebook and Twitter, is that these companies can configure their servers to censor the content of users. Also, the use of centralized servers, as we`ve seen with Parler, means that hosting companies like Amazon have the ability to take the social network offline. dSocial addresses and fixes these problems by using decentralized and distributed technologies. Unlike social networks like Facebook and Twitter, dSocial cannot be configured to censor the content of users. And unlike social networks like Parler, dSocial cannot be taken offline because it is powered by a network of decentralized computers and distributed across the many devices that are using dSocial at any given time.
Is dSocial secure?
dSocial uses the combined strength of blockchain and cryptography to ensure that every user on the network is protected. When you create a post or comment on dSocial, there is a record of the post or comment on the dSocial blockchain. When creating these records, your device uses a special private key (known only by your device) to apply a digital signature to each post or comment. The magical thing about cryptography is that every time your digital signature is used, everyone else on dSocial knows that it was you, and only you, who created the post or comment. This same digital signature is used for everything you do on dSocial, and since you control the special private key on your device, only you can change your data on dSocial. In this way, data on dSocial is absolutely secure. Importantly, should you ever want to leave dSocial, you can remove all your data in a matter of seconds.
Does dSocial censor users?
dSocial uses blockchain technology to manage content on the network. The dSocial blockchain is managed and maintained by a decentralized network of computers called block producers. These computers work together to add blocks to the dSocial blockchain, creating a powerful decentralized database for dSocial. Since the database for dSocial is decentralized, there is no central individual or group that can censor content on the network. This design feature is what separates dSocial from social networks like Facebook and Twitter, which use centralized servers that give them the ability to censor all content on their networks.
Who is welcome on dSocial?
dSocial is an open source decentralized social network. Open source means that anyone can view the code that makes dSocial work. This aspect of dSocial makes it substantially different from social networks like Facebook, Twitter and Parler. With these networks, you can`t see the code that makes them work, so you don`t know what they`re doing with your data and other sensitive information. With dSocial, you can see everything that happens with your data and information because the code is open source. dSocial is welcome to anyone and everyone who wants to use a safe, secure and censorship-free social network, all of which can be verified by viewing dSocial`s open source code.
Who maintains dSocial?
dSocial utilizes a blockchain to manage data relating to posts, comments, loves, hashtags and other information. The blockchain is maintained by a network of computers known as block producers. These block producers are elected by the dSocial community. Block producer positions are awarded to the 21 candidates who receive the most votes. Votes for block producers are tabulated continuously. As a result, any potential candidate for block producer may become one at any time. This election system ensures that the dSocial blockchain is maintained by block producers whose actions and goals are in line with those of the dSocial community. As with candidates for public office, candidates for block producer positions should disclose basic information, such as their identity, and verify that they meet the requirements for becoming a block producer, such as their available computing resources and knowledge of blockchain technology. But there are no restrictions as to who can become a block producer candidate.
Who controls my data on dSocial?
dSocial uses the combined power of blockchain technology and cryptography to ensure that users are always in control of their data. When a user creates or modifies content on dSocial, each action is digitally signed using a special key — known only by the user`s device — and stored on the dSocial blockchain. Through the magic of cryptography, other users on dSocial can verify actions have been signed by a user`s special key, and not someone else`s, by viewing the digital signature on the dSocial blockchain. This process creates a unique and verifiable digital signature for every action on dSocial, giving users the ability to modify or remove data from dSocial at any time. On dSocial, users have total control and ownership of their data.
How do I sign up for dSocial?
Signing up for dSocial is easy. Simply visit https://dsocial.network where you can sign up for a dSocial account. Users that verify their dSocial account using their mobile phone number and email address can earn 1000 RIX. RIX is a unique digital currency used on the dSocial network to upvote the posts and comments of other dSocial users. In this way, dSocial users can earn RIX for the quality and value of their posts and comments.
